Embree "Chuck" Bedsole

Embree C. “Chuck” advises companies from the US, Latin America, Asia, and Europe on hospitality, tourism and real estate projects across the globe. Chuck brings more than 38 years of industry experience, including 23 years with international professional service firms and five years of corporate-level experience with hospitality companies in the areas of merger and acquisitions, development, finance operations, and marketing. He brings substantial domestic and international experience with various hospitality asset types including hotels, mixed-use resort developments, hotel condominiums, interval ownership, all-inclusive resorts, and marinas. He is also experienced in residential, commercial, and industrial projects in Latin America.

With advisory experience that includes strategic planning, asset management, due diligence, feasibility, valuation, marketing, and financing engagements for multinational companies, capital sources, developers, financial institutions, and governments, Chuck has worked in major markets in the US, the Caribbean, Europe, Middle East, and Latin America. His clients have included significant private equity funds, investment banks, bankruptcy estates, institutional capital sources, and international lodging companies.

Chuck also brings significant restructuring and workout experience through two major lodging industry downturns, including major assignments as the chief restructuring officer for a large destination resort in Mexico, another destination resort in Utah, and debtor and creditor advisory assignments for multiple master-planned resorts and lodging portfolios. He was also responsible for the more than 30 billion lodging portfolio within the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy estate from 2009-2012.

Chuck founded and led the hospitality and leisure group at Alvarez & Marsal for 15 years, served as a practice leader in the hospitality and leisure group of Pricewaterhouse Coopers, and for seven years was a practice leader for Latin America and hospitality in Ernst & Young’s Real Estate Advisory Services Group. Prior to his experience leading hospitality advisory practices, he served as the director of development for Jack Tar Village Resorts, Inc. (a subsidiary of Sammons Travel & Resorts) and was responsible for resort acquisitions in Latin America and the Caribbean. He began his career in hotel operations and marketing serving as a hotel general manager and later as a corporate director of sales for Vista Host, Inc., a hotel management company based in Houston. 

Chuck earned a degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin and is fluent in Spanish and conversant in Portuguese. He is a lead participant of the Dallas Hotel Conference and the Hospitality Law Conference and is a frequent speaker at key industry conferences on lodging and real estate development in the US and abroad.

He has authored numerous articles for industry publications, including GlobeSt.com, National Hotel Executive, and Hotels Magazine. He also served as a guest lecturer for the University of Texas at Arlington’s Certificate in Property Repositioning program.
